By now unless you live in a cave, I'm sure that you have heard that the broadcast industry is going digital in February of 2009. That means for poor schleps like me who don't believe in paying for television, I'll need a converter box which is estimated to cost between $50-$70. This seems ridiculous to me, but hey its still cheaper than a monthly bill from the cable company. Now the part that just floors me is that you can apply to the federal government for a $40 coupon to help off set the cost of the converter box. Congress actually created a program to help pay for these converter boxes for people! Does anyone else find this ridiculous!!!!???? Why can't Congress give people $40 for books for children or food, but God forbid we be without any TV!!!!??? We better budget for that!!!! And yes, if Congress feels the need to help pay for my converter box, I'll let them.
